Your Support Needed and Meadow Park Update

Members,

Meadow Park courts are closed until further notice. For updates regarding Meadow Park, as well as other Willamalane Parks go to; https://www.willamalane.org/district_info/alerts.php

Recently you have received a couple of Club and Foundation emails encouraging your written support requesting the Eugene Mayor and City Councilors to add the Regional Pickleball Complex to the list of projects eligible to receive Parks SDC funding. As EVPC members, you have enthusiastically responded to the Boards requests to express your support for expanding pickleball in our community. This request is really important!!! Our chances of receiving a portion of these funds will be greatly enhanced if you take a moment and write a short email. So please don't wait, or depend on others, to send an email. If you need a sample of what to include, below is the email Eric Wold sent. Please feel free to put in your own reasons why LCC is such a great location as well as how you see how this complex will be benefit our entire community.

Thank You for taking action now.

Dear Mayor Vinis and City Councilors,

I am a resident of ward 4 and I've lived in Eugene for 25 years.  I previously wrote to you on October 15, 2023 and also provided verbal testimony at your October 23rd meeting.

First, I want to thank you for listening and considering all the public input and community support you received leading up to, and during your October 23rd meeting regarding pickleball in Eugene.  Specifically, many others and I encouraged the City Council to pass a resolution that would place the Regional Pickleball Complex at Lane Community College on the list of projects eligible to receive funding from Parks System Development Charges (Parks SDC's).

Second, I was pleased to watch your January 10, 2024 work session when you further discussed the topic of the Regional Pickleball Complex and the Parks SDC project list.  Once you receive the report that you directed staff to produce, I encourage you to then pass the resolution referenced above: to add the Regional Pickleball Complex to the list of projects eligible to receive Parks SDC funding.  As Councilor Zelenka stated during the work session, the location of this complex at Lane Community College is perfect because there is adequate space and its location would not have noise impacts on residential neighborhoods.

This project will have significant positive benefits to the health and wellbeing of our community and will also have a positive economic impact.

Thank you for your consideration of my comments and for your service to our community.

Sincerely,

Eric Wold
