EVPC Board Updates

Club members,

I wanted to give you an update on some recent changes with our Board of Directors. In July, we received the resignation of Brian Baugnon. Brian was appointed by the Board of Directors at our March 2023 board meeting. In October of this year, the board appointed Doug Dalebroux to fill that open position. Doug, and his wife, Brenda, moved to Eugene earlier this year from the Portland area. Doug is now retired after 30+ years teaching PE in the public schools. Seve several of those years he taught Pickleball in his PE classes. We are fortunate to have him as a member of our Board of Directors. He has already stepped in and assisting with our youth development program.

Another recent development is the resignation of Bob Block. Bob has been an important supporter and activist for Pickleball in our community.  Bob will continue to be involved in growing and supporting pickleball in our community, but at this time not as an EVPC Board member. The resignation of Bob, opens up one position on our board of directors. It is a very exciting and important time. For the development of pickleball in our club and our community. Below, you will find the attributes we are looking for in a board member. If you are interested in being part of this active team, or have questions regarding this position, please contact Chris Achtien cmachtien@gmail.com

I want to thank all of you that showed up at the City Council meeting on Monday October 23rd. If you weren’t there, you may have read or heard about that over 100 pickleballers, many with paddles in your hand, we’re in attendance to show your support for the regional pickleball facility at LCC. Those of you that spoke in support of the facility did and an awesome job. Thank You!!

On a more personal note, I am on the recovery road from a heart attack I had a week ago Friday. I greatly appreciate the encouragement and well wishes that I have received from many of you. I hope to be back out on the courts soon.

Blessings and good health to you all.

Roger Schaljo

EVPC President
